My real Automotive passion is for Volkswagens. I don't know how to explain it, but I have been "bitten" by beetles. My Dad had 4 of them when I was growing up and he restored one, so naturally I am familiar with these machines. The one he restored he eventually sold to my brother who gave it to me after he drove it for a few years. We laugh now, because my Dad used a lot of pop rivets on that one, but 10 years later, it still looked like a million bucks! After my brother gave me the bug, I sold it since I was only 15 and couldn't drive it and I needed money for other things.
In grade twelve, my parents moved out of the city onto an acreage so I needed a car to get to school. My Dad loaned me $1200.00 to buy a bug. He didn't really like the idea since he had bad experiences with them but helped me out anyway. I ended up with a Yellow 69 beetle with a custom interior. I really loved that bug. I had many problems with it and was very frustrated at times but I have to admit I was in tears the day I sold it about a year later (being my first car and all). I needed money for College.
I currently own two 74 Super Beetles. A red one for parts, and a yellow one which we call the "PlowBug". My wife and I moved onto an acreage a couple of years ago and I had to plow the driveway myself since the county wanted way too much to do it. I had this idea of putting a plow on the beetle before winter came, so I had some time to prepare for the snow.
