Search Sites
Finding what you're looking for on the internet can often be a very difficult task. There is simply so much
information to root through that is not what you're looking for.
Sometimes it can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. A very small needle in a very large
haystack. Half the time you'll think you've found a page with just what you're looking for and then discover
it is only a page full of links that take you to more pages with links and so on. Finding actual content can
be a daunting task but it can be done.
Here are some helpful tips...
- Use a Search Engine
A Search Engine (Such as Google, Yahoo!, Lycos, AltaVista or Excite) can be a great way to quickly find what you want.
- Choose the Right Search Engine for the Job
Each Search Engine has its own individual strengths and weaknesses. Taking some time to get to know a few of the best search pages and how they work can help you find things faster. Yahoo! is a great place to find information on easily categorized topics. Google can be a great place to look for diverse topics which are harder to nail down.
- Search for Specifics
Imagine you wanted to find out some information to help you take care of your sick dog. Doing a search for "Dogs" will give you thousands of pages that have something to do with dogs, but it will be very unlikely that you will find any that have information to help you with your dog. You will need to narrow down your search so you won't need to root through all the garbage that doesn't pertain to your topic of interest. Searching for "Dogs Sickness Advice" will be much more effective.
